| Dear friends,
Think of the Nobel Peace Prize and one will have thought
of Nelson Mandela, Mother Teresa of Calcutta, the international
NGO Doctors Without Borders (Medecins Sans Frontieres), and
others. But around the corner, in our neighborhood, or in
some remote little townships, there are many more of these
personages who work tirelessly in pursuit of peace.
Millions of women worldwide work day in and out to promote
peace. Their work however has been taken for granted. To pay
acknowledgement to these courageous efforts, and to show that
work of these women is valuable and exemplary, 1000 women
from all over the world will be nominated for the 2005 Nobel
Peace Prize.
We want to take this opportunity to profile these women,
to tell their stories and to highlight their innovative and
enduring efforts in achieving a more holistic sense of "peace".
In the process, we will reflect on and enrich the concept
of peace through systematic and comprehensive documentation
and researches of the life stories of these women. Exhibitions
and conferences will be organized to enhance public awareness
in this regard.
1000 Women for the Nobel Prize 2005 is a global project
coordinated by the Swiss-based Association 1000 Women for
the Nobel Peace Prize 2005. You may visit their Website www.1000peacewomen.org

to, has taken on the promotion, implementation and research
of the nomination for this region. Please visit the website
